Courses built by researchers, for researchers
Methodical provides expert-led, interactive research methods training for researchers, students and professionals who want to build confidence in designing, conducting and communicating high-quality research.
Our courses are practical, supportive and designed to help you apply research methods directly to your own projects. Whether you are planning a PhD study, developing an evaluation, preparing a grant application or strengthening your methodological skills, we help you move from understanding methods in theory to using them in practice. Mixed methods, made usable
We specialise in mixed methods research, helping learners combine qualitative and quantitative approaches in rigorous, meaningful and useful ways, from developing research questions and choosing designs to integrating data and writing up for theses, reports and grant applications.
We are particularly interested in applied research that addresses complex real-world questions, including health, social care, policy, education, evaluation and public services.
Taught by experienced researchers
Dr Ruth Plackett, FHEA

Dr Sarah Jasim, FHEA
A senior mixed methods researcher with expertise in health, social care, mental health and policy-related research. Sarah's interests include complex evaluations, theory of change, and realist and process evaluation, and she is an experienced course convenor and trainer.
